Each of the component parts can be easily removed by springing back the plastic tabs holding them in place, and sliding them out. This further enhances the benifits of a modular product design.
This product was manufactured before the RoHS directive, and therefore will contain hazardous substances such as lead, especially in the solder. It may be possible to recycle the leaded components by removing the plastic coating and melting them as it has a low melting point.
The case and screen could be recycled by separating the plastic and steel and melting them down and using them for a diffferent purpose.
In Europe it is now the law that things should be recycled, and the product manufacturers are held responsible for the recycling of their products. Those that do not obey the regulations can recieve a monetary disincentive. It would be economically beneficial to avoid a hefty fine.
